On entering our care home, you will feel the love and hear the laughter filling our rooms. Creating a fun and enjoyable home is important to us as we want to enrich and enhance the lives of our residents.

We have a good reputation within the local community for delivering excellent care and providing a great environment to our residents. We want our residents to love their new home and feel comfortable here whilst living an active retirement without the burden of running their own home. Providing our residents with continued independence, freedom and companionship is at the heart of what we do.

Our Bournemouth care home is located a short and level walk from the championship Queens Park Golf Course, and we are less than two miles from the beach. With local buses operating near us, the amenities of Bournemouth are easily accessible.

We bring many services into the residential home to make it easier to access services that you need or enjoy such as hairdressing, manicures and chiropody (some at a small extra cost).

Our facilities include a light and airy conservatory where you can enjoy the garden whatever the weather and a summer house to allow residents and visitors to sit out in the garden in shade. Our gardens have been carefully landscaped throughout to cater for our residents, with raised flowerbeds, a fish pond, paved areas and seating to relax and enjoy the tranquil gardens. The gardens are wonderful throughout the year boasting a variety of trees, shrubs and plants that provide a range of colours, textures and heights to delight in.

We pride ourselves in delivering modern facilities with a large screen television in the lounge and free wireless broadband connection throughout the building. We provide various social areas where you can participate in activities as well as a quiet seating area for those that don’t want the noise but want to be amongst other people. Our stylish and separate dining room provides a great setting for meals and social occasions. On-site parking makes it easy and convenient for family and friends to visit.

Although we are not a nursing home we can provide palliative care if needed. Nursing care is provided by our fantastic local Community Nursing Team on a daily basis and we regularly call in our local GPs when required.

Quality Care in Quality Surroundings

The gardens of our CARE HOME have been carefully landscaped at the front and back with raised flowerbeds, a pergola and a fish pond plus a variety of trees, shrubs and plants to provide interest throughout the year.

Various areas have been paved and chairs and tables are provided to enable our residents to have a soothing and tranquil place to sit out during the warmer months. For the cooler times our residents can relax in a large conservatory to observe the wildlife in the back garden.

Richmondwood Care Home History

Richmondwood Care Home has had an interesting history. The land was originally owned by the Earl of Malmesbury who sold it to a private purchaser in 1905 for the sum of £375.

It was later sold to the Church Commissioners and in 1936 became the vicarage to the nearby parish church of St Albans. It remained as such until 1978 when it changed ownership and soon after was converted to a Care Home.

It is a tribute to the sympathetic way the additions have been designed that most visitors coming up the front drive are unaware that it is only the middle part of the care home – the bay window and the window to the left – that is part of the original structure.

The vicarage had four bedrooms, but by the time the current owner purchased it in 1986 this had increased to 11 bedrooms. Since that date our care home has had several extensions and now has 22 bedrooms, 19 of which have en-suite toilets or full bathing facilities.

In the 1990’s a further parcel of land was purchased at the rear to be used as amenity space.

Outside, the gardens front and rear have been extensively landscaped and designed so that all parts are level and easily accessed by those in wheelchairs or who have mobility difficulties.
